The W3C office in Brazil created a very interesting initiative: Browser Breakfast. They open space for the main producers of rendering architectures to show their products and take a look to the future of the Internet. Our participation will be on Friday, August 21st, and I will be there to talk a little about standards and Microsoft.

Two events have already happened: Firefox Breakfast and Opera Breakfast.

Life is getting back to normal. The children are returning to school, I’ll be back in the office next Tuesday (Aug 18), my wife returned to work today…

Everything is as it should be: São Paulo… Hot winter… Dry air… Traffic jams… Schools… Office… Airports… Events… Meetings…

From Sept 02 to Sept 04 2009 I will be attending the Quinto Congreso Latinoamericano de Ciudades y Gobiernos Locales at Mar del Plata, Argentina. According to the event site, it is a “forum for reflecting upon the big themes that shape and direct the present and the future of local governments in Latin America”.

Such a big event does not underestimate the influence technology has in today’s world along with an extensive examination of security and environmental management. The event session list accommodates multiple discussions on these issues, offering space for exhibitors and panels that discuss development, transparency, safety and service quality in local governments.

I created a tentative schedule for my attendance at the event:

  • On the first day I will be attending the panel on Digital Cities and Open Local Governments moderated by Paulo Ziulkowsky, Chairman of the National Confederation of Brazilian Municipalities. The panel includes representatives from Argentina, Mexico, OAS, FLACMA and Spain;
  • On the second day I will be attending the panel on Security, moderated by Paúl Granda, Mayor of Cuenca, Ecuador. The panel includes representatives from  Peru, Brazil, Chile, Israel and ILANUD;
  • On the third day I will be attending to a panel moderated by Marcus Aurelius Garcia, Special Advisor for International Affairs of the Presidency of the Brazilian Republic. The panel includes representatives from Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia, Venezuela and Panama.
